Self-educated painters are called "primitivists". Frankness, pure color are typical of these painters. At the same time spontaneity and originality of perception of the world are distinguishing features for their creations. More than one thousand paintings are preserved at the H. Sharambeyan Museum of Folk Arts: Gerasim Amiryan, Hovhannes Hambartsumyan, Asatur Chemakyan, Nunufar Poghosyan, Knarik Poghosyan, Khachatur Frangulyan.
