The conference Armenian Folk Art: Traditions and Present

The conference Armenian Folk Art: Traditions and Present took place in Centre of Popular Creation after Hovhannes Sharambeyan on October 24, 2014. The speakers presented papers on history and present state of Armenian folk art. They presented also soma problematic questions of the field such as the resistance of folklore in the age of globalization. The discussion, that took place at the end of the conference, gave opportunity to the participants to share their ideas on the presented problems and to search for new ways to protect and develop folk art.
The exhibition Incense Tree, launched in the frames of the conference, presented paintings, as well as wood and metal carvings by Armenian folk artists.
